This special photo exhibition, hosted by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the armistice, featured black-and-white photos of ROK and UN forces veterans from the Korean War. These photos were meticulously restored using artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, including GFP-GAN and Face Restoration, with the aim of using technology to vividly recapture the youthful appearances of these heroes from a contemporary perspective. The photo restoration work was undertaken by students from Sungkyunkwan University's Department of Software and Artificial Intelligence, using photographs provided by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
