In 1945, our country overcome pain and suffering against the brutal period of the Japanese colonization and gained our independence. However, failing to resolve the conflicts that occurred both in and outside of the country, difficulties in establishing a unified government were inevitable. At the time, the UN had been actively involved in the issues occurring in the Korean peninsula since the end of the Japanese colonization, influencing the southern part of the peninsula with the concepts of independent elections and establishment of government, and so on. However, North Korean continuously exercised armed provocation and was ensured military assistance from the former Soviet Union and was given implicit authorization to illegally invade South Korea in June 1950. This catastrophic event had critically damaged the integrity of the UN, which was seeking to maintain collective security, and, in order to resolve this problem, the UN called for a security council. Eventually, the UN came to the decision of dispatching armed forces to Korea, and thus, the Korean War will remain in history as the first war ever to be fought under the name of the UN Forces. Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the participation of the UN Forces in the Korean War, and reminiscing how the UN Forces came together to fight in the Korean War and the bravery and sacrifices of all of the courageous people who have helped us maintain a safe and peaceful life over the past 70 years, we hope that this exhibition will allow you to realize once again the values and importance of peace in the fruitful days we now live in, thanks to the honorable sacrifices made by those

who have dedicated their lives.
